As a medical assistant at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Maryland, Milene found herself looking for an elegant solution to ease a woman’s pain after breast treatment. Her mission was to help women with their healing, increase their comfort, and provide a nurturing, dignified solution for post breast surgery care.

Dissatisfied with the age-old inconvenient, uncomfortable-but-common post-surgery recommendations for awkward warm and cool compresses, Milene noted that most patients settled for bags of frozen peas, warm damp towels, or even moistened baby diapers for warm and cool therapy.

Recovering from a shoulder procedure, Milene was recommended to use bags of frozen peas to treat the area. As she experienced the solutions breast patients were using, she was convinced women needed a better product for relief. Bags of ice, frozen peas, wet towels, or stiff hot packs leaked or were uncomfortable. She began to design a product with specific patients’ needs in mind.

The Thermalform® Breast Gel Pack was released after three years and hundreds of hours in design, redesign, patient testing, and implementing requests from patients, doctors, and nurses.
